Peristomal Rash

Peristomal rash refers to rashes of the skin surrounding the stoma. This is skin that the adhesive flanges stick to, and rashes can be caused by a number of problems. The most common two being stool leakage and flange adhesive allergies.

Treatment of the rashes depends upon what causes them, but there's a number of products available to help ease the skin complaints, including barrier creams, peristomal powders and more. Once the rash is cleared up, second skin wipes can be used to help prevent future rashes.
