Loop Colostomy
A loop colostomy is usually used in emergency surgery where a temporary stoma is required. They are usually much larger than the normal colostomy stoma. A loop of the bowel is pulled out onto the abdomen which is then cut open to form two openings. One for the stool and the other for mucus discharge.
