=====Keyhole Surgery=====
Keyhole Surgery (also called LaproScopic surgery) is a modern surgical technique in which operations in the abdomen are performed through small incisions (usually 0.5-1.5cm) as compared to larger incisions needed in traditional surgical procedures. The surgeon has a selection of tools which are passed through the abdomen wall. To give the surgeon room to work, the abdomen is inflated and illuminated. A camera is also inserted and the surgeon conducts the operation via a video screen located next to the patient.
More and more ostomy operations are being performed via keyhole surgery these days, and the positives of this are many but topped by a much shorter stay in hospital (a couple days as opposed to the usual 10 - 14 days for open surgery) and a much quicker recovery time.
