Good news

Went to the vascular surgeon today for my ultrasound of the stent in my abdominal aortic aneurysm, and the aneurysm has shrunk up even more. This is such a good news. YEAH

Then I got home and got the x-ray report of my spine. BOO!!!! It's really bad.

I guess you gotta take the bad with the good. I asked the vascular surgeon if they could do an ultrasound if my colorectal surgeon decides to move my stoma to the other side, and she said "Oh, we'll work around it. Don't worry." So I won't. I'll let them work it out.

Thanks.........Actually the good news is more important than the bad news.....if you get what I mean.

If the aneurysm isn't kept under control, it can rupture at any time.    My doctor told us that there's less than a 10% chance of making it to the hospital alive if it bursts.   It's like instant death.  SCARY!!!!

The spine causes pain, but the aneurysm is realllllllly serious.        It was actually found when I had my first attack of ischemic colitis. Lucky me!   They were doing all sorts of tests and found it by accident.   The vascular surgeon was measuring it for a few years and then said it could rupture fairly soon, so he put in the stent.     I really don't think much about it any more, but every so often I remember how serious it could be and how lucky I am to be alive.

Oh Lois, The new is about your aneurysm is great, lets hope it keeps shrinking. Like you stated it is the greater concern but I do hope that the pain from your spine eases up. And how is the infection near your stoma doing?
