I got a call this afternoon from the hospital where I'm having my surgery on Aug. 1. They said they were calling about my surgery at the Surgery Center (not the hospital where I'm having it, not even the same city) on July 18 with Dr. So-and-so. That's not my doctor.....lol I told the guy I was a little confused. He had my name right, my address right and my phone number was okay........but he then asked if a certain date was my birthday (which it wasn't). I guess the office people got our papers mixed up or something. The person then said he'd call the doctor's office back and let me know. So far I haven't heard anything new. I looked up the doctor he mentioned, and he is in the same office as my doctor.

Soooooooo. bottom line is they got the date wrong, the location wrong and the doctor's name wrong. Very strange.

Very strange indeed Lois, had a similar issue at the gp years ago-same names but different birth dates. Interested to hear more

Sounds like the NHS has taken over your hospitals appointments system, Lois. :D

Hope you get it all sorted out quickly and easily.

Well, that must be very comforting to have things so well orchestrated going into surgery. :-) Might want to check and see what kind of surgery they have you scheduled for, just saying. :-0 And then run. :-)

Good grief good thing you were NOT in the hospital ready for the surgery.

I had that happen to me once before. I was scheduled for a hysterectomy and had to go to the hospital for some pre-op tests. They came out calling "Mr." Wasserman. I told them they were looking for Mrs.

By the way, I got two calls this morning apologizing for the mix-up.

Glad they apologised, Lois. On my second op I was being wheeled to op room 1 when the attending nurse checked my wrist band and it wasn't who was scheduled for that room-this is where constant checks make sense as the porter misread the notes-I needed op room 7.

"Mr"?-obviously didn't read the notes haha

These mix-ups can be real scary. Some are definitely worse than others.
